Baylor Signs Impressive Duo

Scott Drew and the Baylor basketball program signed two major basketball talents to national letters of intent during the national early signing period.

One is rated as the #2 overall player nationally by Scout.com, and Scout's Evan Daniels says he "is one of the top scorers in the country, and may be the best long-term prospect in the entire class". The other is the #32 overall player nationally, and Daniels says this about him: "[he is] likely the top athlete in the class." It is pretty easy to tell why Scott Drew and the Baylor basketball program were ecstatic to receive signed national letters of intent then from the aforementioned players - Quincy Miller and Deuce Bello.

Miller is a 5 star forward with skills inside and out. Standing about 6'10", Miller can create havoc in the lane, but also step out and nail a three. He is rated as the #2 overall player in the class, and his constant exuberance would make any coach drool over the possibilities with him on the team.

"I just feel like it is a family," Miller told Scout.com shortly after committing to Baylor. "It's somewhere I can get developed, but at the same time have fun and be a family and that's all I ever wanted in a college."

Going further, Miller told Scout.com "Coach Drew has a great personality and I think he's a good person. He tells me the truth, not always what I want to hear."

"After the Vegas tournament me and Deuce called him and we talked for a long time and he was telling us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to work on and how he could help us with that."

In the end for Miller, it was all about Baylor's family atmosphere, which has attracted students to the campus for 165 years: "They are a family," Miller said. "They are tight knit. Everything seems good about them."

Bello is as explosive as they come from the wing position. A top talent in his own right, Bello has participated in multiple all-star games, often showcasing his elite athletic ability to posterize opponents.

Bello too credited Scott Drew on his recruitment: "Coach Drew is a good guy and is down to earth. He says the right things and I feel like I can trust him and the rest of the coaching staff."

Going further on his Baylor choice, Bello told Scout.com "I just feel like it's a great situation for me. I like their style of play, they way they play defense and the way they run the pick and roll. They get up and down the floor."

Perhaps the best thing for Baylor fans is to land these two elite players in the same class, knowing that they have had plenty of time playing together and dominating together already.

"I think we are use to each other" Bello said about Miller. "We have a great feel for each other. I think it's going to be real fun. I'm excited."

And Miller on Bello? "We are very excited [about playing together]," he said. "We've been playing together in AAU, now high school and now in college. It's all-good. We are going to have fun, like we've been doing."

Now that they are signed on the dotted line, Baylor fans everywhere can breathe deeply and be thankful that Scott Drew and the Baylor basketball program has landed another elite level signing class.
