The game started off well for the Bears as Perry Jones
got an easy bucket on the opening possession. On the Bears next possession, Anthony Jones
hit a three-pointer for 3 of his 12 first half points. Baylor
was 3/3 to open the game from beyond the arc.
In the first half, the game was very back-and-forth. Just when it seemed like the Bears were going to pull away, Oklahoma
would fight back and chip away at the Bears' lead. Quincy Acy
dominated the inside in the first half, scoring 9 points of his own. Baylor went on a 6-2 run to close out the end of first half, leading 39-34.
opened the second half with a three-pointer for the Sooners. The Bears responded over the next few minutes and with 15:57 remaining, led over the Sooners 50-43. Just when it looked like Baylor was going to pull away for good, their shooting went cold. Over 6 minutes passed before the Bears would score again. Oklahoma, on the other hand, seemingly couldn't miss. The Sooners went on a 24-3 run, leading by as many as 14 at one point. Instead of moving the ball around like they had in the first half, Baylor's players began settling for the first shot they saw, whether or not it was open.
Baylor fought back, but it was too late. They were able to trim the Sooners' lead to 3 points, but had to foul and keep putting the Sooners back on the line.
Perry Jones led the Bears with 19 points, followed by Anthony Jones with 16 and Dunn with 15. The Bears as a team shot 52% in the first half, but balanced it out with an abysmal second half to finish the game at 47.3% for the game.
The Bears will come back to Texas and will square off with #16 Texas A&M
(17-4, 4-3) in College Station this Saturday at 1:00. It's a must-win for the Bears against the Aggies, who are coming off back-to-back losses.
A day after having to postpone the game due to the Winter storm that hit much of the nation, the Baylor Bears (14-7, 4-4) fell to the Oklahoma Sooners (12-9. 4-3) in Norman. Admission was free to those who braved the weather and slick roads to go see an Oklahoma team that had won 3 straight games coming in.
After leading for most of the game, the Bears fell in Norman 73-66.
