West Virginia placed 12 players on the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team. WVU tied for sixth in the league in total members of the team.

The Big 12 splits its Academic team into two squads. The first team consists of 82 members, who averaged a 3.20 or better GPA, while 49 student-athletes earned second team recognition, which requires a 3.0 GPA.

Kansas had the most members with 18, followed by Baylor (17), Iowa State (15), Oklahoma State (14), Oklahoma (13), WVU and Texas Tech (12), Texas (11), TCU (10) and Kansas State (7).
