He is one of the most productive athletes in the city as it pertains to yards.
And because of his stellar play in conjunction with the overall team, Spring (TX) Westfield running back Emmit Raleigh will get another week to showcase his skills. Sure, his primary focus is to get his team to a place where they are vying for the ultimate prize at the season's end, but he would also like to have an offer or two as well.
"I'm desperate for an offer, but first I must help my team get to state," Raleigh said.
Yes, for the moment, the 6-foot, 200-pound Raleigh has yet to haul in offer No. 1. But there is one thing that is for certain, he is being the workhorse his team needs as they won their opening playoff game against Conroe (TX) 77-7 last Friday.
In the win, Raleigh had 145 yards and a touchdown and also had a 10-yard touchdown reception as well.
"The team helped me push us forward in this game. We came out and got it done," Raleigh said. "We have the confidence that we can go all the way, we can't look past anyone and have to take things one day at a time."
That's likely the same approach he is taking with his recruitment as well seeing that his first offer has yet to be offered. Right now, San Jose State and Rice, along with a couple of FCS programs from the Southland Conference, are giving him a look.
He visited Sam Houston State and Texas A&M for games so far this season, and both trips turned out to be favorable.
"Every time I go to games, the team wins. And the coaches treat me right," Raleigh said.
