Green Looking for a Good Fit

D.J. Green caught up with the Mesquite (Texas) Horn three-star linebacker, who is back in the thick of the recruiting process...

D.J. Green, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound middle linebacker from Mesquite (Texas) Horn High added anew offer this week and is hearing from another high profile SEC program.

"Navy offered last night," Green informed. "Since this whole open period Navy is the one that offered and Arkansas is another one that has shown interest."

Like many others sitting on the Arkansas list he is waiting to hear what is going to settle with the coaching staff before finding out if he may add an offer from the Hogs.

"I know that the Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema got the job, but I do not know yet if any of the current staff is going to stay."

"He (the coach recruiting him currently) told me a time frame that when it all would happen and if they are staying or leaving. The they will start evaluating recruits and get news out. That may be this weekend or early next week."

Green, a big-hitter in the middle of the Mesquite Horn defense, initially made a commitment to Baylor back in the spring, but is back on the market after making a decommitment in the early part of the summer.

"After the whole decommitment thing I did my best to reach out to schools where I knew coaches," Green explained. " A lot of the linebacker coaches and coordinators in the area."

Most of his connections may have been close to home, but he is willing to look for a program from coast-to-coast that he feels like he can make an impact with.

"Definitely," Green answered quickly when asked if was willing to look as far as a California or the East Coast while trying to find the right school. I would consider any program that offers me the chance to play at a high level and get a great education."

"I would look as close as SMU or as far as Cal."

Green is a full qualifier with around 3.8 GPA and a 1700 SAT. Schools like Air Force, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Colorado and Rice have all been mentioned recently in regards to schools showing interest. Recommended Stories
