Notebook: Cyclones 58, Lady Raiders 54

Texas Tech dropped its first conference game of the season on Saturday to Iowa State. Here are some notes and bits of info from that game.

Texas Tech fell to Iowa State 58-54

Lady Raiders fall to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference play

Cyclones improve to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 play

Game Attendance: 5,005

1,000-point Club

With a three-pointer with 16:03 left in the first half against Iowa State, Casey Morris eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Morris spent her freshman campaign at Cal before coming to Texas Tech. The senior finished the night with 13 points, second-most on the team.

Brown on Fire

Coming out of halftime, Tech trailed 34-31, but senior Chynna Brown tied it up with one of her four three-pointers of the night.

The four three-pointers ties her career-high set back against Houston on Nov. 16, and surpassed her previous career-high of three-pointers of four as she fired it from behind the arc nine times against Iowa State.

Brown finished the game leading the Lady Raiders with 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field. Brown finished just three points shy of tying her career high of 22, set against Missouri on January 12, 2011.

Brown has now scored in double-digits for the third-straight game and for the seventh time this season.

Off the Mark

Lady Raiders struggled shooting against the Cyclones, shooting just 29.8% from the field for the game marking the lowest shooting percentage for the Lady Raiders since the 50-48 loss to Michigan State.

Forcing Turnovers

The Lady Raiders only committed 10 turnovers on Saturday night against Iowa State but forced 22.

The 10 turnovers marks the fewest for the Lady Raiders since the 68-41 victory against Northern Colorado when Tech turned it over just nine times.

The 22 turnovers marks the most by an opponent since Houston turned the ball over 21 times in an 86-56 loss to Tech on December 30.

Sitting at .500

The 1-1 start to Big 12 play this season marks the first time since the 2009-2010 season the Lady Raiders have gotten off to that start in conference.

That season Tech lost to Oklahoma and then beat Colorado to open Big 12 play.

Wildcats on Wednesday

The Big 12 slate at home continues for the Lady Raiders on Wednesday when they welcome Kansas State into the United Spirit Arena. First tip is set for 7 p.m. and that game can been seen on Fox College Sports.
