Lobos get on the board

Coming off of a visit to New Mexico, guard Xavier Adams pulled the trigger and decided to be a Lobo.

The New Mexico Lobos are having one of the better seasons in recent memory, and now that is beginning to pay dividends on the recruiting trail.

This weekend the Lobos hosted guard Xavier Adams from Alvarado (Tex.) for a visit, and that was enough to help them secure a commitment.

"Xavier Adams committed to the University of New Mexico," said AAU coach Vonzell Thomas.

Thomas continued, "New Mexico is a top 25 program that sells out the arena for every game. Also they have an opportunity to play right away with players graduating at his position."

Adams is in the middle of an excellent junior season in which he is averaging 27.1 points and 14.4 rebounds per game.

This is the first commitment for New Mexico in the class of 2014.
