The accolades are pouring in for Kansas redshirt freshman guard Ben McLemore.

On Tuesday, he was named to the Sporting News Mid-Season All-America First Team.

McLemore joins Oklahoma State freshman Marcus Smart, Michigan sophomore Trey Burke, Creighton junior Doug McDermott and Duke senior Mason Plumlee on the first team.

The honor comes on the heels of being selected to the Midseason Top 25 for the prestigious John Wooden award along with senior center Jeff Withey this past weekend.

McLemore has caught the attention of many with his abilities on the court. Last week, he definitely made a name for himself, when he nailed a three pointer to send a what would have been defeat against Iowa State to overtime, where the Jayhawks prevailed to continue their impressive home winning streak. He finished the 97-89 victory with 33 points.

Earlier in the week, he was selected as Big 12 Player of the Week. Recommended Stories
