Allen to transfer

OU quarterback Drew Allen is transferring.

NORMAN, Okla. — Sooner quarterback Drew Allen has reportedly decided to transfer from OU.

The San Antonio, Texas native who joined the team as an early enrollee in 2009 will have a chance to play immediately at whichever school he chooses after completing his courses at OU this spring.

He played sparingly in three seasons, serving as Landry Jones' backup in 2010 and 2011 while compiling 160 passing yards on 18-of-30 throwing.

Allen managed the lone touchdown of his career when he rushed for a 7-yard score against Iowa State in 2010.

A very serviceable option for his eventual destination school, Allen simply wasn't expected to compete for the Sooner starting spot this upcoming season.

Blake Bell and Trevor Knight, as well as Kendal Thompson, are predicted to do so, with Bell likely having the early upper hand.
