The Baylor men's basketball squad secured their first verbal commitment for the 2014 class today, getting the pledge of Damiyne Durham, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Oakwood, TX. Durham is a big-time scoring threat, averaging over 27 points per game last year for Oakwood High School, where he is a two sport star.

Durham led the Panthers to the Class A Division II Championship game where they lost to Douglass High School. Durham averaged 27.6 points per game and also chipped in 8.5 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.4 assists. He is a high volume scorer, with good range. Damiyne also went All-State in Six-Man Football for the Panthers.

In an article with, Durham described himself as a shooter. "Shooting is something that comes natural to me," said Durham.

With reported offers from Memphis, Marquette, Texas, Texas A&M, DePaul and Kansas State, Durham is a late riser going into his senior season. Durham came to Baylor on a visit this weekend and left with an offer and a commitment to the Big 12 school. Durham is the most highly regarded East Texas basketball player since former Texas Longhorn Damion James.
