During his first year at Alvin (TX) Manvel High School, Will Lockett had a ton to prove. He was a first year starter, at corner back, for a team he was new to. Well after a successful first season, the talented 6'0, 185 lb corner, is starting to make a name for himself on the recruiting trail.
This past Sunday, Lockett took his first official visit to Baylor, to take in their first Junior Day of the year. So how did the visit go? "It was good. Everything about it was nice. I really enjoyed it."
Making your first visit to a school can be somewhat overwhelming, but Lockett wanted to learn more about the Big 12 school. "I really wanted to learn more about Baylor and the program," Lockett said. "I really liked their work out program and how they prepare their players." Lockett was speaking about Strength and Conditioning Coach Kaz Kazadi. Kazadi has been one of the core reasons that Baylor has been able to turn things around, in the Big 12, and win their first Big 12 Championship.
Although he did enjoy his visit, Lockett did not receive an offer at the Junior Day, but he is hoping that his play on the field will impress the coaches enough for an offer. "My style of play is aggressive, phyiscal, and fast. Not many corners can hit like I can. If its a forced fumble or interception, I'm going to try to get the ball back for my offense."
Along with Baylor, Lockett is hearing from the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Northwestern.
