Baylor Bears Go For Sweep Against Nebraska

Cory VanAllen pitched 7 strong innings as the Baylor Bears took game 2 against the number 5 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-1. After taking the first game of the series, the Bears are looking for the sweep on Sunday.

Senior Mike Pankratz hasn't done it often, but on Saturday night he came up big for the Baylor Bears. Pankratz hit a 2-run homerun to right-center field giving the Bears a lead they would never surrender. Chase Gerdes added another blast as the Bears took game 2 and assured themselves of a series win against the 5th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Cory VanAllen, who had trouble with his control early, pitched 7 strong innings giving up only 4 hits and one run. VanAllen pitched his way out of several tough spots, most importantly inducing a 2 out bases loaded flyout in the top of the 7th inning. Tim Matthews came in to finish the game allowing 2 hits in 2 innings and recording 2 strikeouts.

With a first pitch time at 2:00 cst, the Baylor Bears will look to sweep the Huskers on Sunday as they wrap up their final home series at Baylor Ballpark.
