Steve Smith and the Baylor baseball opened up Big 12 Tournament play with a loss to Nebraska. Keep it tuned right here to track the progress out the Baylor Bears in the Big 12 Tournament as they try to keep their post-season hopes alive.

Although the Bears outhit Nebraska 8-5 on the day, the Huskers hits were more timely as they handed Baylor a loss in the opening game of the Big 12 Baseball Tournament.

A key run-scoring single by Andrew Brown in the bottom of the eighth propelled Nebraska to the win. Solo homeruns by Ryan Wehrle and Jeff Christy earlier in the game kept Nebraska in it until Brown could drive home the winning run.

For Baylor, Seth Fortenberry sent a solo shot over the fence, but the 3 and 4 hitters came up empty as Zach Dillon and Kevin Sevigny combined to go 0 for 9 on the day. The one positive for Baylor is that they only used 2 pitchers on the day, while Nebraska had 5 players out to the mound. Not a single Nebraska player had more than 1 hit, but in the end that did not matter.

Baylor will look to get a tournament win tomorrow when they face Texas tomorrow.
