Former Baylor great Mike Singletary has been honored by his alma mater as Floyd Casey Stadium, home of the Baylor Bears, now displays a banner of the football legend.

It is rumored that he cracked more helmets than any other Baylor football player in the history of the Baylor football program. Whether it is true or not, Mike Singletary is a Baylor Bear great, a Chicago Bear legend, and an NFL Hall of Famer.

In 1978, Mike Singletary established a school record that has yet to be broken: 232 tackles. During his final two seasons at Baylor, Singletary was an All-American linebacker and instantly became a Baylor football hero. His hard-nosed, hard-hitting style of play got him noticed, and the Chicago Bears drafted the star linebacker in 1981.

His career with the Chicago Bears lasted until 1992 in which he was selected to 10 straight pro bowls. In addition, Singletary helped lead the Chicago Bears all the way to the Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots in 1985, a season in which the Bears defense only allowed 11 points to opponents per game.

He is now a San Francisco 49er assistant coach, but he will forever be remembered by the fans of both Baylor University and the Chicago Bears organization. With the makeover of Baylor's football stadium almost complete, a banner of Mike Singletary was unveiled today honoring him as a Baylor legend.
