Billy Chavis, a star athlete at Beaumont Westbrook High School, is a top 100 national player ranked by Scout.com. Several weeks ago, Chavis commited to the Baylor Bears, but recent reports on the talented football player have him looking elsewhere. BearsIllustrated.com caught up with Chavis to get the latest on his recruitment.

"Right now it is a strong commitment. Like I said, Baylor, I love them, they love me, and everything is going well with that. Texas is my home, you know, but lately I have been having a lot on my mind. I want to know what's best for me. Right now I am committed to Baylor. That's why I committed when I did, so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Because right now I am just focused on the season."

"Right now, I am putting my recruitment behind me. I have got a football season to look forward to. So, that's where I am kind of at right now; leading my team to state."

"As far as recruiting, I mean, I am committed to Baylor, and I got other scholarship offers. But I am not worried about all that right now. I am focusing on graduating and taking my team to state."

As far as his high school football team is concerned, Chavis is no stranger to a leadership role.

"I have been a leader since I was in the 9th grade. I got onto varsity when I was in 10th grade. I was a quarterback, so I was showing leadership then. I am just really looking forward to being a role model to these new guys and taking it from there."

Chavis admits he is preparing this year differently than in year's past.

"My past three years, I thought of it as just a game. But now, when I am going to college, and this is my future, now it is not just a game. It is business now. I am taking things way more seriously than I have in the past."

"Right now it is a strong commitment. Like I said, Baylor, I love them, they love me, and everything is going well with that. Texas is my home, you know, but lately I have been having a lot on my mind. I want to know what's best for me. Right now I am committed to Baylor.
