Holding numerous offers, Friendswood offensive lineman
Cameron Kaufhold
decided to end his recruitment just before the start of the new year. With offers from
Arizona State
,
Baylor
,
Houston
,
Colorado State
, Louisiana,
New Mexico State
, and
North Texas
, the east Texas lineman has given his pledge to play for Art Briles and the Baylor Bears.
At 6-5 280, tackle Cameron Kaufhold is a standout on the field and in the classroom. He had committed to the Houston Cougars earlier in his recruitment, but has now decided that Baylor is the best fit for him.
"I went up to Baylor this summer, and I like the campus and the school. However, I didn't want to be a part of that program then."
When Art Briles was named the new head coach at Baylor University, things changed.
"Really, Coach Briles and Coach Clements put all the pieces together. They were like the final piece of the puzzle."
As a junior, Kaufhold was named All-State, and has received all-district and all-Galveston Area honors. The talented offensive lineman has no doubts where he will be signing come February 6th.
"I will be signing for Baylor. Coach Briles is a down to earth person. He is a personable person, he shoots you straight, and he knows how to relate to high school and college players."
While Kaufhold waits for signing day to make it official, he continues to work hard in the offseason preparing for the transition to college football. As for playing time his freshman year?
"I am going to put it in the hands of Coach Clements. He will decide what is best for me."
