Johnson Impressed With Baylor

Class of 2010 wide receiver Kevin Johnson came away from Baylor Junior Day impressed with Baylor's football program and football coaching staff. Find out what more he had to say about Baylor, when he is looking to commit, and where Baylor ranks in his list of schools.

Kevin Johnson, a 6-1 190 pound wide receiver, is Houston Cypress Ridge High School's biggest playmaker. The talented receiver recently returned home from a visit to Baylor University in Waco, Texas for Baylor's Junior Day. He discusses his thoughts from the experience.

"They walked us around the campus, toured some areas of the campus, and sat down and had a chance to talk to coach [Briles]."

"They discussed some of their goals for the program. They seem to have a nice up and coming program which I was very impressed with as well as the coaching staff. I was very excited, I was impressed with the visit, and they are on top of my list right now."

Johnson holds an offer from Baylor, while other schools such as Texas A&M, Stanford, Oklahoma, and LSU, are showing him interest.

Johnson explains that while he is interested in other schools, his comfort level is high at Baylor.

"I like the coaching staff. I really do. I like the new facilities, and they are building new facilities on campus. Watching them this season, they had a decent year, didn't show on the wins column, but I watched them a couple of times this year, and the team seemed to come together. They played well, and they played teams like Texas and Texas Tech pretty tough. They just seem like they are an up and coming program, and I feel like I would like to be a part of that."

Johnson's plan for this summer is to make it out to a couple of camps, although at this time he doesn't have his camp destinations but would like to attend three or four camps. While a commitment may not come for awhile, Johnson does know what factors will play into his decision.

"It is pretty much a mixture of everything. You know, playing time is always great as a freshman, but sometimes you got to come in and learn. As far as other things, I like schools with a good academic program, as well as a good football program. Location of the university is going to mean a little bit."

Johnson explains that while it could change, he is interested in a particular college major.

"For right now, I am looking into journalism. But, you know, with a school like Baylor, I might have to change that because I know they are high on medicine and all that stuff."
