As the Baylor Bears took the practice field Saturday morning during Spring drills, Baylor Head Coach Art Briles felt it was time to see how the players could handle a scrimmage. BearsIllustrated.com was there to take it all in.
It sure didn't feel like late March in Central Texas, but the cold weather might have put the
Baylor
Bear football team into a true football mindset Saturday morning. With temperatures in the 40's, and the wind blowing strong, Coach Art Briles led his football team onto the field for a Spring football scrimmage.
A lot of times, fans want to know if it was the defense or the offense that won the scrimmage - today it was probably neither. If anything, the wind won out. The wind was blowing so strong that you saw very few passes over 10 yards from star Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin. But you did see several connections from Griffin to favorite target and recently retired (at least for this season) basketball player Kendall Wright and redshirt freshman Terrance Williams. Williams stood out among the receivers today, grabbing every pass that came his way and putting several nice moves, both before and after the catch, on any corner covering him.
Defensively Antareis Bryan was the star, picking off two passes and being in position to make plays all day long. The defensive line continued their improvement behind junior tackle Phil Taylor; collectively they were in the backfield quickly plenty of times to create trouble for the offense.
This is just a taste of the information we have for you on the scrimmage here at BearsIllustrated.com. Come inside to our premium message board to see a detailed break down on the players we watched today, to learn the numerous number of signees and recruits that were present to watch the scrimmage, and to hear a few more tidbits from the scrimmage.
