Baylor's Newest Commitment Talks Football

Baylor's newest commitment talks Baylor football, what position he will be playing, and why he chose the green and gold. Read what he has to say only inside at BearsIllustrated.com.

Standing 6'4" and weighing in at 218 pounds, Robert Singletary was a two sport athlete at Kingwood High School. Basketball and football were his sports, but as his college career draws nearer, Singletary has decided that playing football at Baylor is his best choice. The Kingwood athlete told BearsIllustrated.com that he is committed to the Baylor Bears.

"I'm committed to Baylor. I just went for a visit, and I really enjoyed the campus, a couple of players, and it just felt right. It just felt like the right place for me."

With offers from Missouri, Miami (OH), Navy, and Army, Singletary will play on the defensive side of the ball for Art Briles and the Baylor Bears.

"Outside linebacker is where I will be playing. At first Coach McCloud recruited me, and then I talked to Coach Hoefer, the linebackers coach. On the visit, everything went well, so I committed."

Robert, the brother of Texas Tech basketball player Michael Singletary, is fully qualified and has no plans of looking anywhere else.

"I am pretty solid. There is nothing else that would change my mind at all. I am canceling all visits."

Singletary has only played on the defensive side of the ball for 1 season, and he tells BearsIllustrated.com some of the things he will be working on for the upcoming season.

"I just think I need to work hard. Get to the weight room. I have been playing two sports, and playing basketball cuts down on my lifting time. When other kids are in off-season, they are lifting, and I am in basketball. So, once that's over, I need to get back in the weight room. I need to build up my speed and my muscle and get ready for the Big 12 grind."
